Brass Tacks are a Wirral based group whose 20 years experience on the folk scene has seen them playing folk clubs, festivals, and private functions with great success.
The current line-up is:-
Mike Woods - lead guitar and vocals
Buddy Woods - whistle, guitar, percussion, and vocals.
(John Owen, a member of the group since 1995, left in April 2006 and now runs his own club and is a member of the harmony trio Vocal Point).
Since the beginning of 1999 they have been resident at the Parkgate Folk Club, complementing the national and international artistes who appear there.
Their material is drawn from a diversity of traditional and contemporary sources with harmony singing being their specialty. With a cappella, shanty, and novelty numbers thrown in for good measure, Brass Tacks provide lively entertainment and many opportunities for audiences to join in with their chorus songs. Their tight arrangements display the professionalism gained from their experience on the folk scene.
