Eddie first started entertaining as lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist in one of the many pop groups around in those early Merseybeat days.  After being introduced to the folk scene, he ran a club  at the Cross Keys pub off Old Hall St in Liverpool as a member of The Penny Black folk trio. When the group finally disbanded he went solo and was invited to be the resident singer at the Wednesday Folk Club at Parkgate in the Wirral, which gained a national reputation.

Eddie has appeared at venues as far flung as Pitlochry in Scotland to Coventry in the South, and also appeared on the bill at various venues with some of the top acts around, including Mike Harding, Jake Thackray, Richard Digance, Richard Thompson, Phil Cool, The Spinners, Charlie Landsborough, and the Houghton Weavers.  His performances include ballads, chorus, and comedy songs, along with stories, and anecdotes of his experiences and observations on life.
He has made many local radio appearances, including parts in three plays on Radio Merseyside, appeared regularly on the Billy Maher Show on that station, presenting mainly folk styled music, and recorded a solo album ‘TODAY’

Eddie also played for over 20 years with his long time pal Paddy Nagle in this very popular duo.  From as far afield as Glasgow, Oxford, Scarborough, and Bangor, they appeared at all types of venue, including Pubs, Golf Clubs, CAMRA Festivals, Masonic functions, PTA’s, Conferences, the Welsh Festival at Theatr Clwyd, three Manchester Irish Markets Festivals, and Liverpool Neptune Theatre.
Described as “a fabulous potpourri of Irish/Scouse humour and music”, they were always in demand. “It was a breath of fresh air” was a comment that was made many times to them after a show.  They played their final booking on 23 November 2007 at Wrexham Memorial Hall.
